This course will focus on reading comprehension skills, writing skills, evaluating and explaining ideas, conducting library and Internet research, developing a research paper, and documenting research. This course will also focus on increasing students’ writing and thinking skills by applying critical thinking and writing skills to a variety of grade appropriate academic assignments, including analyzing complex texts. A substantial amount of time will be dedicated to student-centered instruction in various forms.
